WFS service for consultation and downloading of the geographic names of Italy and related land boundaries
Who is this service for?
Access to the service is free for anyone (i.e. companies, institutions, citizens). No authentication is required.
Description
The Feature Service (WFS) is an open standard developed by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) aimed at the creation of web services for sharing geographic objects that can be displayed as distinguished elements making up a map.
Thus, the WFS allows users not only to display geographic data using GIS software, but also to analyze all their features. Moreover a copy of the original data can be contextually downloaded.
In accordance with the Directive (EU) 2019/1024, the Italian Military Geographic Institute has published a WMTS service for displaying data relating to the national land boundaries and toponyms of Italy.
A metadata sheet containing all needed information is also associated with the service. This sheet can also be consulted via the National Catalog for Spatial Data (RNDT).
